3.2  Molding plastic and rubber products

Application:
Removing mold release and grease, process residues and plastic or rubber molds/vent holes.

Current method:
Items are taken off-line and media blasted or scrubbed with solvents. Vent holes are drilled out or probed with wire.

Dissatisfactions:
Cost and liability of chemical and contaminated waste ; grit contamination ; cleaning downtime; labor intensive ; slow.

Benefits of CRYONOMIC® cleaning:

A very good application for CO2 cleaning. Molds may be "cleaned in place" to increase profits by reducing downtime for cleaning. Cleaning is accomplished without the cost and liability of chemical and contaminated waste, and the secondary waste stream is eliminated. CO2 cleaning on a routine basis can virtually eliminate the problem of completely plugged vent holes by cleaning the holes before plugging occurs. Processing some plastics "bonds" a thin brown film on molds that is difficult to remove with CO2 cleaning.
